03:40 pm - Bleh.
Came home at 1pm; I couldn't really focus on my work and I was really uncomfortable in the chair. Took my temp when I got here: 101.5°F. Been laying in bed for the last 2.5 hours, decided I would check in on work e-mail and my friends. *hugs* Thanks everyone... if only I had some eccinacea!

OJ: doable. Started with apple juice, will change after I finish it. (Had a lot of OJ this morning before I went to work, too.)
Zinc Lozenges: check, got those.
Multi-vitamins: took one this morning, but we only have an "essentials" multi-vitamin.
Power-C juice: I'll just stick to normal + vitamin C supplements, since I have those.

Anything else? (Other than dragging my ass back to bed? LOL)

Yeah, something else to consider: I picked up a 5-HTP supplement over the weekend and took one yesterday and one this morning, 50mg each day. Could this be related? I doubt it, but I'll mention it just in case.

Yesterday I had a pretty good day; woke up overnight with a sore throat in bed with the fan on (Dee had been warm earlier in the evening.) I turned the fan off when I woke up, but still. *sigh*
Current Mood: sicksick

Take something like Tylenol or Advil to bring the temp down. Easier for your body to fight if it's not too hot.

The vitamins are all great, though I was just reading an article (or something on tv maybe)that docs say they still don't have any proof vitamins do anything. They don't mind people taking them 'cause they don't do any harm, but they haven't scientifically proven they work.

Chicken soup is another one of those things that seems to actually work, thought it hasn't been proven. So have yourself some of that =)

Get well soon!

I always thought it was better to take as little medication as possible, to let your body fight it off naturally. Something about the elevated temperature making your body a less hospitable place for the virus. *shrug* Any idea where you learned to take a fever reducer? Or is it just your family's standard practice?

Had some chicken soup for dinner. Lots of broth, but I left a lot of noodles & minuscule pieces of chicken in the bowl. The noodles made my tummy feel funny. *sigh* But the broth is supposedly the best part, right?

In my memory doctors i've been to have always said to treat a fever when it gets to a certain level. I think past 100 is about the point where you treat it. Treating fever by itself does not help you beat the illness (nor does it interfere with you getting better). What it does is improves your comfort, and that allows you to fight infection better.

Maybe it would be good to get an antibiotic. You want to get better quickly, and an antibiotic would help, even if you are not so ill that you really need it this time.

Yeah, I think broth is the good part. Also nice because it's easy to eat when you don't feel like eating when you don't feel good.

if you want ot attempt to be well by friday do this

stay home or work from home the next 2 days.
buy 4-6 tihngs of OJ.
goto trader joes and pick up AirBorne. Consume every few hours in your OJ.
get some cough syrup with expectorant.
double that attack with some vicks vapo-rub gel rub on your chest and nose every few hours.
NO SODA OR FAST FOOD. only good food, preferably fresh veggies and soups , Trader Joes also has yummy pot pies that come out crispy in the microwave.

Yeah I need to e-mail and get VPN access set up. See if I can work from home.

Going out: well I feel like crap and Dee doesn't drive, so getting stuff now isn't likely -- though now I know what to stock up on.

Right now I'm not sniffly, sneezing, or coughing. Just the fever, and feeling run down. :-/ But of course since you mentioned it, I do feel a bit stuffed up. Don't think I have any vapo-rub though. :-(

I picked up Halo 2 today, so hopefully I'll feel better soon and you can come over and get some asscasting in!
