Christmas Eve Insomnia

When I was a kid, I had the most terrible time getting to (and staying) asleep on Christmas Eve. And it wasn't that I was trying to catch Ol' Saint Nick in the act. It happens at other times, too; almost any time that I'm really looking forward to something, my brain refuses to go to sleep.

So of course I'm awake a full 2 hours earlier today than I wanted to be. I've actually been trying to get back to sleep for the past half-hour or so. Counting sheep, counting numbers... not working. My mind wanders to apparently random things. And I have a song stuck in my head.

So I'm stuck with my last option: tell everyone that I'm awake and not going to get back to sleep. That should guarantee that I konk out in the next 15 minutes or so, right? *chuckle*

UPDATE 8:15am: Sure enough, after I posted & went back to bed, I fell asleep until my alarm went off...
