Last week, I came up with a simplification of some code that, while it increased the program size somewhat, made the code easier to maintain. The person who had previously written the code was less than pleased and didn't want to take the change. So some other people looked at it, and agreed that it would be more maintainable. Still, the original programmer persisted. Today I was told that after we cut our next milestone, we will switch over to my new code.

Part of me likes this, as my code is going in. Part of the trick was using the Standard Template Library, which the other programmer hadn't used before. I dunno... I miean, it's good to have maintainable code, and he knew that I was reviewing his code to see if I could improve it... but I dislike the disagreements that it has caused. Part of me wished I'd never worked on the change. *sigh*
