Okay, before we got out, I threw out a ton of magazines that had been hanging around, and Lis got together some of her stitching magazines to pass to the owner of the local stitching shop. We headed out for a yummy pizza lunch, and then went by the stitching shop. We gave the owner the magazines, and Lis picked up one pattern that she had passed on getting last week. After this, I think every other thing we buy for the next two weeks is going to be for the move only. We went by PetsMart and got two new carriers (one of the old ones was broken), and checked out the "litter and tray combination" things. At $3 a pop, those are really gonna ease a lot of the pain of the move, at least so far as giving the kitties a potty at night.

I took three more loads of dead boxes away, and the storage room is starting to look a little bit empty! Of course, now there are boxes inside the house, which make it look a bit cluttered. ^_^ Lis got in touch with her family, and they all seem excited about her moving home. Unfortunately, the Anaheim dream home is currently occupied by really good tenants, so we're still on our own for apartments. Found another option in Costa Mesa, they take kitties with claws, just an extra deposit (no pet rent). But the 1 bedroom + den, 1 1/2 bath, is about $1300, so still a little pricey. *sigh* I think I'm going to have to accept that the apartment we want is in the $1300-$1400 range, and we're just going to have to figure out how to make that work. A few less toys, more dining in, but we can do it. If I want to budget the "bonus" money in, it's not a problem at all, but just in case those bonuses aren't paid, I don't want them in my financing plan.

It's just a lot of work.

I sort of think of it as getting a 2 bedroom apartment basically, but in the arrangement that we would be using it for anyway -- the second bedroom being more of a computer room (or TV room, depending on how we do it) than a second bedroom.

Granted, for $1,300, it would have been nice to have the washer and dryer in unit, or at least hookups, but... so far it sort of seems like maybe the best choice. That doesn't mean we have to stop looking though.

It's really too bad that the house isn't available. *sniffle*

Well I could be evil and track down the people currently renting your dad's house and try and get them a good job in Virginia :^). Hopefully in the next week we'll find the apartment that really fits us the best.
